Prayer is the power that releases heaven on earth. Paul finishes the spiritual warfare armor in Ephesians 6 with "praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints" Having been clothed with our spiritual warfare armor, Paul now says its all tied together with prayer. As believers we often don't realize the power we have in prayer. Prayer moves mountains, shifts kingdoms, and calls down the presence of God. Reese Howell's little school of prayer in England during WWII is now recognized as the power that won the war. They would literally pray and 3 days later read the many answers to pray on the battlefield. Prayer for those in authority releases peace in nations that allows the gospel to go forth. Daniel prayed and God sent an angel with the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Pray can also release the secrets of the kingdom to those who are tuned in to the voice of God. Listening is definitely a part of prayer. Prayer could well be the most powerful part of our spiritual warfare.
Jesus said to the 70 who had just returned from their first missionary journey in Luke 10. Jesus gave authority to them to cast out demons, heal the sick and proclaim the "Kingdom of God" is at hand. These 70 returned amazed that even the demons were subject to them in Jesus name. Jesus answered with some very outstanding comments. "Have I not given you authority on earth to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. And who is he that will harm you if you be a doer of that which is good." Luke 10:19 And then one of the most amazing statements in the bible. "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning." Luke 10:18 As the 70 were going to every city and place where Jesus was going to come in His earthly ministry, He was watching Satan's power being broken over cities and places. They were literally preparing the "way of the Lord". These disciples were operating off of transmitted authority that Jesus had given them. Today we operate with the completed blood of Christ on the cross that totally disarmed Satan and demons. But we have to execute the judgment on demons by our commands and commitment to walk under Jesus authority. Do you understand at all the enormous power and authority Jesus Christ has given you and me in His name? Paul reminds us that Jesus has already placed all principalities, powers and rulers of darkness under Jesus feet. And He gave this authority to us.. His body, His bride, His called ones.
