Stop Weeping! Behold the Lamb
Revelation 5 gives us one of the most powerful pictures of Jesus Christ in all of Scripture. John sees God seated upon His throne, holding a scroll sealed with seven seals. The scroll represents the unfolding of God’s purpose and authority for His creation.
But a question is asked: Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals? No one in heaven or on earth is found worthy. John begins to weep—until one of the elders tells him, “Do not weep. See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah… has conquered.”
Yet when John looks, he does not see a conquering lion. He sees a Lamb standing as though it had been slain.
This is the great revelation of Revelation 5: Jesus conquers through sacrifice. The Lion and the Lamb are the same Christ. His authority does not come through earthly power, but through His death, resurrection, and complete obedience to the Father.
The Lamb takes the scroll from the right hand of God. Heaven responds with worship because Christ alone is worthy. Revelation 5:9 declares that He was slain and purchased people for God from every tribe, language, people, and nation.
Jesus is therefore not merely Savior—He is worthy to receive the scroll, to exercise authority, and to bring God’s purposes to fulfillment. Heaven and earth ultimately belong under His lordship.
For Kingdom people, this chapter gives us tremendous hope. The future is not controlled by chaos, evil, or earthly kingdoms. The Lamb is in control. The One who gave Himself for us is the One who has been given authority over all things.
Revelation 5 calls us to stop looking at the darkness around us and look again at the throne. The Lamb has conquered. He is worthy. And His Kingdom will prevail.
